Interested in being an assistant or additional crew member for Cable 8? There will be an Informational Meeting on January 18th at 7pm in Goertzen 21 (possibly will change to Todd auditorium) where we will go over all details and open positions we are looking to fill this semester. Cable 8 Productions has a wide variety of available positions catering to on-camera personalities, production and directorial roles, and marketing opportunities. At the beginning of every semester, interviews for assistant, talent, and crew roles for upcoming shows open, and at the end of the semester pitches for directors and producers take place to determine the show list for the next semester. TV POSITIONS

Talent / Crew

Cable 8 Talent and Crew members will have the opportunity to act (scripted television) or serve as on-screen personalities for unscripted, hosted special projects segments. Crew members will have the opportunity to operate cameras, and help with set lighting, props, and any other production tasks that may be needed.  Auditions will be held Monday, January 23rd, and Tuesday, January 24th from 5:30 - 8:30 on the first floor of Jackson Hall. Auditions are on a first come first serve basis, please fill out this sign-up sheet prior to your arrival

 

 TELEVISION 

Assistant Director

Assistant Directors are tasked with all pre-production aspects of a television show. This could mean set organization, script writing, location scouting, and evaluating the creative vision of television production. Specific position tasks will vary depending on the specific show a staff member works with. Hiring for all Television shows.

Assistant Producer

Assistant Directors are tasked with all pre-production aspects of a television show. This could mean set organization, script writing, location scouting, and evaluating the creative vision of television production. Specific position tasks will vary depending on the specific show a staff member works with. Hiring for all Television shows.

Writer

Writers for CougZone will need to stay updated with Spring sports at Washington State University and write weekly recaps, previews, and athlete updates. Hiring for COUGZONE.

Sound Engineer

Hiring for MIMESIS.

Social Media Manager

A Social Media Manager will be tasked with running the social media platforms for their respective show. Tasks include managing the activity and schedule of the show's social media platforms, as well as posting engaging content to keep audiences engaged in episode releases. 

Hiring for SILENT TRUTH & MIMESIS.

Editor

Assistant Video Editors will be tasked with all post-production aspects of a television show. Necessary skills include experience with Adobe Premiere Pro, or other editing software, basic level sound design, and color-correcting.

Assistant Director

Assistant Producer

Assistant Producers are tasked with all post-production aspects of special projects show. This could mean color correcting, audio engineering, and evaluating the technical necessities of television production. Specific position tasks will vary depending on the specific show a staff member works with. Hiring for all Special Projects Shows.

Video Editor

Assistant Video Editors will be tasked with all post-production aspects of a television show. Necessary skills include experience with Adobe Premiere Pro, or other editing software, basic level sound design, and color-correcting. Hiring for THE COUCH, WAZZU RECORD ROOM, & COUG ON THE CLOCK.

Talent Coordinator

Talent Coordinator’s primary responsibility is identifying and recruiting actors and other talent, determining their skills and backgrounds, and scheduling them to appear on the show.
The Talent Coordinator will work closely with the show’s producers and crew to ensure that all talent is properly integrated into the production schedule. This includes coordinating with locations and other talent to ensure that everything runs smoothly.
The Talent Coordinator should be a social and outgoing individual who is able to communicate effectively with all members of the production team.

MARKETING POSITIONS

 MARKETING 

Graphic Designer

Graphic designers for the marketing department are responsible for producing digital and print content for advertising and social media purposes. Designers will work on projects directly for the marketing department as well as coordinate with directors and producers to help create promotional content for their shows if requested. Experience with Adobe Suite preferred.

Photographer

Photographers are responsible for taking photos at Cable 8 events and behind-the-scenes content from our various shows. Photographers are also in charge of making selection of their photos and sending them for editing and publishing in a timely manner. Experience with DSLR cameras preferred.

Social Media Content Manager

Content managers are in charge of posting to the social media (Instagram, Twitter, and TikTok) as well as producing content on their own and devising marketing strategies as they see fit to help expand Cable 8's digital presence. Experience in the stated social platforms and Adobe Suite preferred.
