Cable 8 Productions has a wide variety of available positions catering to on-camera personalities, production and directorial roles, and marketing opportunities. At the beginning of every semester, interviews for assistant, talent, and crew roles for upcoming shows open, and at the end of the semester pitches for directors and producers take place to determine the show list for the next semester.  TELEVISION 

Assistant Director/Producer

Assistant directors and producers are key roles in the production of television shows. Responsibilities to be expected but not limited to are script-writing, set planning, production, and editing. Assistants for the television department receive an upper divisional communications course credit for their involvement. Application required, interviews held Sept. 8-9, 5:30-8:30 in Jackson Hall

Actors/Actresses

Talent provides the means for which the story of each television show is told through. Talent roles appeal to those who want to show off their acting skills or try the on-screen performance experience. While not receiving credit, talents are allowed to participate in credit-receiving roles on other shows. No application is required, however, open auditions are held from Sept. 14-15, 5:30-8:30 in Jackson Hall.  

Crew

Crew members are the backbone of any production. Whether it be camera operation, audio technician, or set design, crew are a significant role in the behind-the-scenes of our television shows and a great opportunity to learn the tricks of the trade. Crew does not receive credit, however, no application is necessary, schedules are flexible, and crew is allowed to work on as many shows as they'd like. Interviews held from Sept. 14-15, 5:30-8:30 in Jackson Hall. 

 

 SPECIAL PROJECTS 

Assistants

Assistants support the variety of shows and projects in the special projects department with duties in episode ideas, studio operation, post-production, and even host opportunities. The assistant applications represents a multitude of titles within special projects depending on the needs of each show. Assistants receive an upper divisional communications course credit for their involvement. Application required, interviews held Sept. 8-9. From 5:30 - 8:30 in Jackson Hall. On-Camera Personality

If you envision yourself as a anchor or sports show host, on-camera personalities in special projects is the experience for you. Hosts get the opportunity to experience working in a broadcast environment and develop skills for the on-air industry. On-camera personalities do not receive credit, however, no application is necessary, and personalities are allowed to work on multiple shows. Interviews held from Sept. 14-15 from 5:30-8:30 in Jackson Hall. 

Crew

General Promotions Manager

A jack-of-all-trades in marketing, the general promotions manager is expected to oversee social media operations, develop campaigns for Cable 8 Productions' digital promotions, and assist in event coordination and graphic design as needed. General promotions managers receive two upper divisional communications credits for their involvement. Application required, interviews held Sept. 8-9, 5:30-8:30 in Jackson Hall. Event Coordinator

An event coordinator has the responsibility of corresponding with venues, important guests, and our CFO to book special events for Cable 8 Productions. Event coordinators receive two upper divisional communications credits for their involvement. Application required, interviews held Sept. 8-9, 5:30-8:30 in Jackson Hall. Graphic Designer

Want to get experience in marketing-oriented graphic design? Cable 8 graphic designers produce social media and web content, develop templates for brand consistency, and contribute to the Cable 8 aesthetic. Graphic designers receive two upper divisional communications credits for their involvement. Application required, interviews Sept. 8-9, 5:30-8:30 in Jackson Hall. Photographer

One of the most important aspects of marketing is having good visuals as assets for use in digital content. Photographers are expected to have flexible schedules and be able to document the many Cable 8 behind-the-scenes, special event, and philanthropy occasions.
